Letter from the Director

New Mexico Economic Development Department
Outdoor Recreation Division

Axie Navas

Hundreds of people tuned in to the virtual New Mexico Outdoor Economics Conference last year.  We were honored to host powerful speakers and leaders, including Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, President Jonathan Nez, Economic Development Secretary Alicia J. Keyes, and many, many more who engaged with the central question of the event:  How do we sustainably grow this sector of the economy in a way that benefits all New Mexicans?

We are excited to invite you to join the in-person 2021 event this fall in Farmington.  The Outdoor Economics Conference, created by Outdoor New Mexico, is coming to the northwest corner of the state from September 29 – October 1.  The conference will highlight successful economic development efforts within the outside of New Mexico that are connected to protected lands and bring together leaders interested in developing and enhancing opportunities to grow our outdoor recreation economy.

In short, it should be a good time, with deep-dive panel discussions, dynamic networking, great food, and outdoor adventures – from rafting the San Juan to meditating in the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness!
